Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H): the new rules after the 2024 revamp
Long-term residency in Malaysia for you and your family, from 5 to 20 years depending on the tier. Here’s what changed, and what fits you, before you pay anything.

What changed?
- The programme now has three main tiers: Platinum, Gold and Silver. How long you can stay depends on the tier; it is no longer 20 years for everyone.
- Buying property is now required in every tier, with a minimum price that depends on the tier.
- You must spend at least 90 days a year in Malaysia.
- The fixed deposit is higher, and part of it can be withdrawn after the first year to buy your property or pay for healthcare or travel within Malaysia.
- The programme does not lead to permanent residency, and only Platinum holders may work.

There is also a Special Economic Zone tier with lower requirements. Figures last reviewed 13 October 2026. They change, so confirm them on the official MM2H website before you apply.
